Gregory Jenkins was born in Van Nuys, California. During his father’s United States Air Force career, Dr. Jenkins and his two brothers enjoyed the opportunity to experience living with their family in a variety of locales, including Okinawa, Japan; Hawaii; Georgia; New York; Texas; Mississippi; and Washington, D.C.
After moving to Newhall in 1966 and earning his Associate Degree in the first graduating class at College of the Canyons, Dr. Jenkins transferred to UCLA. He earned his medical degree at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and returned to California to complete his residency training in the UCLA Internal Medicine Program. He began his family practice with offices in Newhall and Friendly Valley. Dr. Jenkins completed an additional Occupational Medicine residency training program at the School of Medicine, University of Cincinnati.
Dr. Jenkins has served in multiple capacities as a medical staff leader at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. Dr. Jenkins works as a member of the Medical Staff Executive Board and is ways focused on providing and improving the quality of care patients receive at our local hospital. He believes that it is vital for local l physicians to contribute their efforts to the hospital that serves their patients. Dr. Jenkins words as a member of the Medical Staff Executive Board and is always focused on providing and improving the quality of care patients receive at our local hospital. He has served two terms as chief of staff, as deputy chief of staff, immediate past chief of staff, chair of the primary care committee and director of medical clinical education.
Dr. Jenkins was the founding partner in a private practice which he named The Doctors’ Office 26 years ago. He was only physician in that office who is a Santa Clarita resident. He has established his solo private family practice, mydoc+orscv, and is able to consistently provide high quality care as well as superior patient customer service based on knowledge as a Santa Clarita Valley resident and participant in numerous community programs. Dr. Jenkins served as a board member of the American Red Cross and on the College of the Canyons Foundation Board. He donated many hours of support to the William S. Hart Softball program and field maintenance.
While serving patients in his own private practice for 26 years, Dr. Jenkins has also volunteered in a variety of leadership positions at the hospital to enhance the care all patients receive. He served as the medical staff representative for the implementation of electronic medical records at the Hospital. He participated in the planning process for the establishment of the new Cardiac Surgery program and for the new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Dr. Jenkins is now is providing ongoing assistance to the Hospital in preparation for the buildout of the new Hospital Tower with additional private patient rooms and a new Women’s Unit.
As a member of the Flying Samaritans of Mercy and La Liga International, every six weeks Dr. Jenkins flies to Mexico with other volunteers to deliver healthcare supplies and provide medical care to needy patients at several rural clinics. He is able to utilize both his diagnostic and Spanish language skills while serving patients who have no access to medical care.
Gregory Jenkins MD has been recognized by voters in local publication as one of the best in Family Practice, Best Internal Medicine and Best Urgent Care. As a founding partner of his previous practice in 1988, Dr. Jenkins’ philosophy and commitment to concerned, excellent medical care—conveniently available everyday and supported by staff who have served patients with superior customer service for 24 years. The decision to go solo was birthed out of a desire to ensure that his clients receive the best one-on-one care possible. Dr. Jenkins appreciates the opportunity to live and be involved in the community where he is fortunate to practice medicine.
